Astro Man (DWN-058) is a Robot Master that appears in Mega Man 8 and also Mega Man & Bass. Originally designed to work in a planeterium, he was modified for combat by Dr. Wily and outfitted with a wide range of abilities to confuse opponents. Astro Man hates fighting despite his skill and would much rather run (float) and hide like the coward he is, but he knows what Dr. Wily will do to him if he doesn't follow orders.
Game appearances[]
Mega Man 8[]
Astro Man commands a twisted virtual-reality area in Europe and protects one of the barrier generators protecting Wily Tower from intruders.
Mega Man & Bass[]
Astro Man is revived by King and pressed into his army, commanding a location similar to that from Mega Man 8.
Abilities[]
- Astro Shot - Astro Man fires an energy blast from his hands.
- Black Hole - Astro Man creates small holes through which smaller robot minions can emerge to attack and ensnare enemies.
- Satellite Shield - The two orbs gravitating around Astro Man's lower body can deflect any weapon. They can also fire Astro Shots and project holograms to confuse foes.
- Astro Crush - Astro Man summons a shower of meteors that bombard all enemies on the ground beneath him. Mega Man can copy this weapon, but is limited to firing it twice before needing to recharge.
- Copy Vision - Astro Man's Satellite Shield orbs project holographic images of him. Attacking the holograms doesn't affect them, but the Astro Shots they fire can still hurt enemies. Both Mega Man and Bass can copy this ability.
Weaknesses[]
- Homing Sniper (Mega Man 8) - Astro Man likes to confuse opponents by teleporting or hiding behind holograms, but homing projectiles can detect him no matter how he tries to hide himself.
- Magic Card (Mega Man & Bass) - Because of the long range it covers and its ability to boomerang back to Mega Man or Bass, the Magic Card can effectively pierce through Astro Man's defenses from a good distance.
