The Blaster is a tank-like Badnik created by Dr. Eggman. It is modelled after a Hercules beetle and is equipped with a cannon instead of a horn.
Description[]
The Blaster is a small robotic tank modelled after a Hercules beetle. Its body is covered in armor plating resembling a beetle's shell. It moves about on caterpillar tracks covered by gray guard plates. On the robot's front is a cannon raised at a 45 degree angle that launches energy projectiles.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles[]
Blasters appear in the Flying Battery Zone, slowly moving from side to side. Upon sighting the player, they will stop moving and open fire with their cannons, shooting projectiles in an arc pattern. If the player moves far enough away from it, the Blaster will stop shooting. However, if the player is equipped with a shield of any kind, the shots will harmlessly bounce off. The Blaster can be destroyed with any single attack, though the Spin Dash is recommended over jumping in order to avoid being shot while attacking.
Sonic Mania[]
In Sonic Mania, Blasters are once again seen in the Flying Battery Zone. They retain their appearance and behaviour from Sonic & Knuckles.
Sonic Lost World[]
In the Wii U version and PC version of Sonic Lost World, Blasters appear in Desert Ruins Zone 2. Here, they are found moving backwards on routes where the player is obligated to go at high speed. Instead of cannons, this time they have horns that act as catapults, flinging globs of sticky honey at the screen and temporarily obscuring the player's vision. The Blaster can be defeated with a Spin Jump or Homing Attack.

A Blaster appears in a flashback scene during the Tangle & Whisper mini-series' third issue. During the Eggman War, Dr. Eggman had built and deployed at least one large Super Badnik variant, sending it and a platoon of Egg Pawns to attack a town. Whisper the Wolf of the Diamond Cutters was able to destroy it with her Variable Wispon.
