The Dango is a type of Badnik created by Dr. Eggman. Modelled after a pillbug, They have protective armour covering their bodies and are capable of curling up into a ball, rolling to attack their targets much like the Roller.

Sonic the Hedgehog CD[]
Dangos are one of the few Badnik variants encountered in more than one stage, appearing in both Stardust Speedway and Metallic Madness. In Stardust Speedway, they are coloured bright green, while in Metallic Madness they are orange.
Dangos will typically crawl along the ground slowly with their tiny legs until Sonic approaches. Upon sighting Sonic, the Dango will curl up into a ball and roll to attack with a sudden burst of speed. Sonic cannot damage the Dango whiile it is rolling, but can cause it to bounce backward if he attacks it while it is rolling. After being hit, the Dango will uncurl, but will quickly curl back up to attack again. It is only vulnerable while it is uncurled, giving Sonic a brief opportunity to destroy it with any of his attacks.
In the Bad Future, all of Eggman's Badniks have become dilapidated. The Dango has cracked and broken armour plates and rolls much slower, though it still cannot be destroyed while rolling.
Sonic Mania[]
Dangos appear once more in the Stardust Speedway Zone, this time appearing in both neon green and magenta colourations. They behave as they did before in Sonic CD.
In Sonic Mania Plus, a green Dango appears right after the player's fight against Metal Sonic Kai. After Metal Sonic drops the Phantom Ruby, a Dango will suddenly roll onto the screen and punt the ruby away, preventing the player from grabbing it. The Dango will briefly jump up and down to mock the player before rolling away.
