The Egg Hunter is an advanced security robot created by Dr. Eggman. It appears in Sonic the Hedgehog (2006).
Overview[]
The Egg Hunter is an enhanced version of the Egg Searcher, with a red and black chassis, stronger armour and more weapon pods. Unlike the Searcher's variety of weapons, the Hunter primarily uses lasers which can actually home in on targets. The gun pods can fire lasers or machine guns like those of the Searcher. As well as these armaments, the Egg Hunter is also equipped with a cloaking device to render itself invisible.
In gameplay, Egg Hunters will initially attack with machine guns fired from all of their weapon pods. Each bullet only takes off one ring, but with several guns firing at once, this can reduce the player's ring count quite quickly. For their secondary attack, the Hunters will switch to lasers which will target the player wherever they are.
When attacking the Egg Hunter, its weapon pods can get in the way, though destroying these is also beneficial as it leaves the enemy with fewer guns to attack with. The Hunter can be destroyed with three hits.
