The Egg Wyvern is a large, dragon-shaped mecha and the final boss of Sonic's story in Sonic the Hedgehog (2006), fought on an outer deck of the Egg Carrier. It is one of Dr. Eggman's numerous battle mecha that is operated via the doctor's Egg Mobile, which forms the lower half of the Wyvern's head. The Egg Wyvern is armed with numerous laser weapons and will rain laser fire down upon the deck that Sonic occupies. Targeting reticules will appear on different areas of the deck and Sonic must stand clear of these areas when the lasers are fired or be caught in the blast radius. The Egg Wyvern can also launch plasma rockets while circling the deck, but these are not difficult to avoid. The Wyvern's tail can launch a spear-like projectile that will stick to a section of decking then detonate, destroying that section and reducing the amount of space Sonic can move on. Occasionally, Dr. Eggman will try to charge Sonic and Sonic can jump on to the antenna attached to the cockpit's canopy. Doing this disrupts the Wyvern's sensor input and Sonic can try to direct the mecha into flying into large pieces of debris falling from the Egg Carrier. Two hits by falling debris should be enough to destroy the canopy, exposing the Egg Mobile and forcing Eggman to change his attack strategy. From then on, the opportunity to attack Eggman will come when he moves in close and tries to blast Sonic with the Egg Mobile's laser cannons. Sonic can homing-attack the laser pods and then home in on Eggman himself. At the end of the fight, all but two deck plates will be gone and Eggman will attempt to charge Sonic one last time. One more homing attack will destroy the Egg Wyvern and end the battle.
