Advanced Idea Mechanics (also commonly referred to as AIM) is a cabal of scientific minds that exists in the Marvel Comics universe. Originally the deep-science division of the military organisation HYDRA, AIM splintered from them after the Second World War and established themselves as an independent group. In the 1960's, AIM resurfaced as a technologically inclined terrorist organisation, gathering the world's scientific elite to create all manner of outlandish technologies and weapons - including robots and cybernetics - for the purpose of dominating the world.
Thus far, AIM's schemes have yielded little success, but the organisation continuously seeks out the best scientists across the world to work for them and aid them in creating new hi-tech weapons. To date, AIM's greatest success is the creation of MODOK, an artificially mutated human enhanced with psychic abilities and robotic implants. Formerly led by a Scientist Supreme, AIM now takes all its commands from MODOK.
