The Gaogao is a type of Badnik created by Dr. Eggman. It appears in the Toy Kingdom stage of Sonic Advance 3.
Overview[]
The Gaogao is a robot modelled after a lion. Appearing in Toy Kingdom, it resembles a simplistic clockwork toy; its motorized body runs on two wheels and a windup key sticks out of its back. Its faceplate appears to be a metal shield which bears a motif of a lion's face.
In gameplay, Gaogaos move back and forth in a set area. They have no offensive weapons and can only damage the player by bumping into them. The player can destroy the Gaogao with any attack, but only from behind. Attacking the robot's front will result in the player bumping off of its faceplate.

Gaogaos are among the various Badnik models employed by Dr. Eggman in IDW's Sonic the Hedgehog series. In Issue 51, a Gaogao is seen being crushed after Metal Sonic causes an aircraft hijacked by Tails to crash-land.
