The Walking-Stick is a giant land-based robotic weapons platform created by the Jovian Federation in Martian Successor Nadesico. It makes its sole appearance in the episode "Finding Yourself in a Routine Plot".
Overview[]
Late into the war against Earth, the Jovians occupied Russia and used the country as a test area for the new Walking-Stick platform. The Walking-Stick was essentially an enormous anti-aircraft defence system equipped with a gravity-wave rail gun capable of firing miniaturised black holes. With such raw destructive power, the weapon could fire straight through a mountain and destroy orbital or sub-orbital craft.
As powerful as the weapon was, the Walking-Stick needed a long time to recharge and had no means of defending itself from ground assault. The fighter crew of the ND-01 Nadesico used Aestivalis mechs equipped with heavy artillery to attack the Walking-Stick at ground level, disabling it before it could recharge and destroy the Nadesico.
